This is a fantastic ballhead for use in the backcountry. It is the smallest and lightest of the ballheads from the top manufacturers. At 6.5 oz, it is amazingly small. I use it on gitzo 1127 carbon fiber sticks for a very sturdy backcountry setup. It's biggest strength is also it's only drawback--the small size means it really can't hold big loads. So no 70-200/2.8s, this is really only suitable for landscape-type lenses. It can handle a 70-300 compact zoom, but none of the big boys. If you're bringing a 200 or 300mm lens with you for wildlife, this won't really cut it. With bigger gear, you really have to haul on the knob to tighten it, and even then it will droop when you carry it on your shoulder. But for a lightweight setup to carry for 3+ days, I'll take this light ballhead over a full-sized one every time. D200 or smaller and a 18-70dx, 12-24 or like lens will be fine. I recommend getting an RRS L-bracket for the camera body as well.
