(From company literature) Lowepro Street and Field Deluxe Waistbelt. As the foundation for a larger Street and Field system, the Deluxe Waistbelt carries SlipLock components and fits the slot on many large bags and packs. Lets you carry a substantial weight comfortably.
Features:
The SlipLock System: Many different bags and packs are compatible with SlipLock add-ons (a wide variety of pouches). A reinforced attachment tab slides into any SlipLock loop and fastens securely. Attach SlipLock add-ons to your own belt or other SlipLock base products. Look for the "SlipLock System" logo throughout this brochure.
The Tri-Glide Attachment: This heavy-duty webbing system connects an S&F Shoulder Harness or Vest Harness to a Deluxe Waistbelt and larger bags and packs.
Cinch Straps: Used to keep S&F components close to the body for stability and freedom of movement.
Waistbelt Slot: To use with a Deluxe Waistbelt on some of our larger bags.

I don't like backpacks much, so I quite injoy a waistebelt system, even with heavy loads.

Pros:
Distributes weight well across the hips
Cons:
Shoulder strap attachment doesn't work for heavy loads
When used with the street and field Rover system (straps, pack and waistbelt) the belt is critical in distributing heavy loads. For a lighter load, it might not be necessary.
However, the strap comes with two metal loops for which the intention is to attach the shoulder straps directly. I found, however, that this did not distribute weight well. I recommend you stick to the metal loops found on the pack and cinch the belt tightly for waist support.
The belt comes with a number of loops for attaching pouches or stuffing film canisters.

Pros:
Great part of the LowePro system
Cons:
Accessories are limited, but more are planned
If you have the shoulder/ vest harness this really should be part of your overall system Its worth it.
Designed to carry SlipLock cases and larger bags and packs, with or without optional Shoulder/Vest Harnesses. You can arrange the optional cases to fit your shooting style, and that can really save the headaches when carrying a bag just isn't practical. Its also nice to have the ability to add water bottles, tri/ mono pods where ever is comfortable.
The materials and construction are first rate, as you would expect from Lowepro. You will be thankful on those hot humid days to have the breathable, padded Dryflo mesh.
To help with the weight distribution there is an ample reinforced lumbar support. It comes is several sizes, so take into consideration when you will be using the belt, if its over bulky winter pants or jackets go with a larger size.
Combined with the shoulder vest/ harness it makes you wonder why you held on to that old canvas photo vest so long.
