Pros: Size, Lens Compatibility, AA Battery life
Cons: Slower AF than others

I bought my *istDL after using several small P&S cameras. My main reasons for moving to DSLR is speed - focus speed, shot to shot speed, flash refresh speed - and low light performance. The DL addresses both very well. While not as fast as other models, its more than enough for my needs as mostly a family shooter.

The 6MP sensor is great! I have no problems running up to ISO800 and even 1600 in a pinch. Haven't used 3200 much. The lens compatibility is a big plus - lots of older lenses can be found for good prices if you are willing to look around.

I highly recommend this camera for the crowd moving up from point and shoot cameras looking for a bit more performance at a good price.

Pros: Sturdy build, metal frame and lens mount
Cons: viewfinder

This is my first SLR, after 5 digital point and shoots. I LOVE IT! getting great shots! Easy to use, with lots of options/settings to play with. Have taken around 400 shots and still on the same set of NMH batteries. I think for the price, you can't beat it. It has taken a little while to get used to the viewfinder. I found I have to really get into it, to see all the settings along the bottom. The large LCD is good for glancing at your shots, to check on how things are coming out. I'm still learning, and I think this camera will be with me for quite awhile. Also getting great 8X10 prints!
