Pros:

Optical quality comparable to Canon 1.4, but less expensive

Ineffective or loss of AF with certain lenses (typical of teleconverters)

Image quality on same level as Canon 1.4x II converter, for $100 less. As is the case with the Canon teleconverter, AF will be affected on lenses with minimum apertures of f/5.6 or smaller, however, with the Tamron, AF is possible with both Canon and non-Canon lenses.
