(From company literature) Manfrotto 484 Mini Ball Head. Designed with the SLR photographer in mind, the new 484 Mini Ball Head is a direct replacement of the 3262 Midi Ball Head.

The 484 features a strong die-cast construction, precision machined aluminum housing, and an extremely hard phenolic resin ball which provides smoother movements across all tilt positions. The double-groove also makes this head extremely versatile, and the single ratchet control lever securely locks both the +90 / -90 degree ball and 360 degree pan movements.

Camera attachment is via a 2" platform with a 1/4"-20 male thread, and head to tripod attachment is 3/8" female.

Specifications:

  • Finish: Black
  • Pan: 360 degrees
  • Tilt: -90 to +90 degrees
  • Quick Release: No
  • Height: 7.6 cm / 3 in.
  • Camera Mount: 1/4"-20
  • Tripod Mount: 3/8"-16
  • Maximum Load Capacity: 4 kg / 8.8 lbs
  • Weight: 0.25 kg / 0.56 lb

Manfrotto 484 Mini Ball Head review by gadgetguy

Pros: lightweight, cheap
Cons: useful only with a light set-up

I use this on my lightweight monopod to help me support my longer (but lighter) lens setups. I have a feeling it won't support a heavy set-up.
